INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Seventeen student-athletes earned 2003-04 USRowing Scholastic Honor Roll honors and 11 student-athletes earned honorable mention scholastic honor roll accolades, USRowing announced Tuesday.
The USRowing Scholastic Honor Roll, which previously has been announced in the spring, recognizes high school seniors who have excelled in both academics and rowing. Applicants must be USRowing members, have rowed or coxed at least one year, and successfully competed at or above the league or regional level. This is the 13th year of this award.
The USRowing Youth Committee selected the winners based on a numerical ranking of their grades in academic solids, ACT or SAT scores, and class rank. Sixty-eight outstanding student-athletes from around the country applied for the 2004 USRowing Scholastic Honor Roll. The list includes four valedictorians, one perfect score on the SAT, and one perfect score on the ACT.
USRowing is the non-profit membership organization recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the U.S. USRowing's Official Patron is Concept2, its Official Electronics Outfitter is Nielsen Kellerman, its Official Suppliers are NIKE, Inc., Filippi Boat Manufacturer/Elite Rowing, Inc., System Scale Corp., and BOC Advertising, and its Preferred Printer is Sport Graphics Printing.
