SHEPHERDSON, FRANK H. Renowned Oarsman of Boathouse Row. Age 88, of Feasterville, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, September 8th. A long-time resident of Feasterville, Frank is survived by his 4 daughters, Bonnie, Merrily, Holly and Wendy and 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he graduated Olney High School in 1936. Upon graduation, he began his lifetime career as lace designer/draftsman for North American Lace Company. He married his late beloved wife, Elizabeth Murray, in 1942. He temporarily left his wife and career in 1942 to serve in World War II. Upon returning home, he resumed his family life and his career with North American until retiring in 1986. From young adulthood, Frank was a devoted lifetime member of Malta Boat Club and did not stop rowing competitively until approximately 1995. His accomplishments ranged from winning the National Championship in 1949, to rowing in the Olympic Trials in 1952, to winning many Masters races as he grew older.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2006 at Malta Boat Club, #9 Boathouse Row, Kelly Drive, Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, PA 19130. Family and friends are welcome at 12 P.M. and the service will begin at 1 P.M.
