The 2011 World Rowing Junior Championships began today in Eton, England, and one Canadian crew saw action in the junior men's four event.
Romania won the heat in 6:15.95, followed by Spain (6:17.94), and Canada in 6:18.50. Canada will row in the rep tomorrow. Poland, Australia and the United States followed Canada. The Romanians are the defending World Champions in this boat class.
The crew is Christopher Marshall (Brockville Rowing Club) Lance Brazeau (Brockville Rowing Club) Colin Schaap (St. Georges RC) and Gareth Lindstrom (Vancouver College RC).
"It was a good start to the four's week and I feel they have some good information on what they need to work on in the upcoming races," said coach John Ruscitti.
Canada has both men's and women's crews entered in this regatta; the competition continues through to Aug. 07.
