PLOVDIV, Bulgaria - Racing in the 2012 World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships Thursday morning will see the remaining seven crews who have not yet gotten their first crack at the Plovdiv Channel go to the line.
The morning heats will be followed in the afternoon by quarterfinal and repechage racing.
Rowing first at 8:53 a.m. will be the junior women's eight crew of coxswain Amanda Rutherford (Piedmont, Calif.), Eliza Spilsbury (Centerville, Mass.), Caroline Hart (Shrewsbury, Mass), Mia Croonquist (Vashon Island, Wash.), Sylvie Sallquist (Seattle, Wash.), Claire Collins (McLean, Va.), MacKenzie Bartz (Portland, Ore.) Carolina Radcliffe (Falls Church, Va.) and Joanna Mulvey (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.).
They row in a race for lanes for Sunday's final against Bulgaria, Italy, Russia, Germany and Romania.
In the junior men's pair, the crew of Justin Murphy (Montclair, N.J.) and Nathaniel Goodman (Montclair, N.J.) will race at 9:21 a.m. in the last of four heats against France, Spain, Hungary and Great Britain. The winner will advance to the semifinals.
Following them will be the junior women's double sculls duo of Mackenzi Sherman (Los Alamitos, Calif.) and Olivia MacLean (Lancaster, Mass.), who will row at 9:28 a.m. in the first of three heats against France, Serbia, Ukraine, Switzerland and Great Britain. The first two boats advance to the semifinal.
In the junior men's double sculls, the crew of Chase Buchholz (Norfolk, Mass.) and Richard Wagner (Providence, R.I.) race at 9:56 a.m. against Brazil, Mexico, Korea, Poland and Lithuania. Four crews will advance to the quarterfinals.
Junior men's single sculler Mink Graham (New Canaan, Conn.) will row at 11:13 a.m. in the last of six heats and face Tunisia, Croatia, Ukraine and Germany with four boats advancing to the quarterfinals.
In the junior women's single sculls, Nina Vascotto (Huntington, N.Y.) will race at 11:34 a.m. in the third of six heats against the Czech Republic, Romania, Korea and Lithuania. Three boats advance to the quarterfinals.
The last heat of the morning races will feature two heats of junior men's eight.
The U.S. crew of coxswain Peter Overfield (Corte Madre, Calif.), Julian Goldman (Ross, Calif.), Francis Adelbert (St. Louis, Mo.), Harrison Van Andel (Long Beach, Calif.), Patrick Muto (Barrington, Ill.), Patrick Eble (Ft. Washington, Pa.) Gregory Davis (Daly City, Calif.) Peter Woolley (Tiburon, Calif.) and Albert Caputo (Riverside, Conn.) race in the first heat against Italy, Romania, Serbia and Great Britain. The first two boats will advance to the final.
