PRINCETON, N.J. - The USRowing High Performance Committee has announced that Helen Tompkins (Friendswood, Texas) is unable to compete in the 2014 World Rowing Championships due to injury. Replacing Tompkins in the U.S. lightweight women's quadruple sculls is London Olympian Kristin Hedstrom (Concord, Mass.).
Hedstrom, an eight-time national team member, won silver in the lightweight double sculls at the 2013 World Rowing Championships. She joins Mary Jones (Huntsville, Ala.), Sarah Giancola (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Hillary Saeger (Dedham, Mass.) in the U.S. lightweight women's quad that will look to defend last year's silver medal in Chungju, South Korea.
