Today Rowing Canada Aviron made final crew selections for the team heading to Gifu, Japan, for the 2005 FISA World Rowing Championships.
"I'm very pleased that the senior men's program has maintained its strong base from the last Olympic cycle," said Alan Roaf, Rowing Canada High Performance Director. Time trials were held on Victorias Elk Lake this morning to determine the final Worlds lineup. Five mens crews and one womens crew will make the trip to Japan. "The lightweight women are rebuilding, as are the heavyweight women, and my expectation is that there will be more women's crews on the senior National Team next season."
The 2005 World Rowing Championships will be held at the Nagaragawa International Rowing Course in Gifu. Racing starts with heats on August 28, and finals are held on Sept. 3 and 4.
