Rowing Canada Aviron confirms that Olympic gold medalist Malcolm Howard has moved into the pre-Worlds men's eight training group, after a couple of years rowing in the single.
"This decision was made with a lot of consideration for Malcolm and the team as a whole," said Peter Cookson, RCA High Performance Director. "I'm confident that this is the right decision as we move to capitalize on our medal opportunities at the Olympics."
"Malcolm and I are very appreciative of the work on this project by Allison Dobb, who helped Malcolm reach three World Cup A finals, and she will continue to be an important part of our coaching team," said Cookson.
Howard, of Victoria, B.C., was a 2008 gold medalist in the men's eight, and now hopes to be part of the 2012 Olympic crew. This year also marks the return of two-time Olympic coxswain, Brian Price.
The Canadian Worlds' crew line-up has not been announced yet, and seat selection is ongoing. This year, the World Championships, which also serves as the Olympic Qualification Regatta, will be held in Bled, Slovenia, from Aug. 28 to Sept. 04.
