Margaret Matia (Burke, Va.), Gold Medal, Women's Double Sculls "It's been a great experience and it's been such a great opportunity to come here and compete for the U.S. I've been very proud and honored, and it's been great competition."
Sarah Trowbridge (Guilford, Conn.), Gold Medal, Women's Double Sculls "It's been very valuable as our first competition to be at such a highly-organized and respected event. We're just really lucky to be able to race here. Plus the competition has been great and they gave us a lot to learn from.
"We try to prepare for the worst if we're not leading. However, given both or our physiology, we tend to do well at the start and do well the first 500. So we like to get out ahead and push from there. But, we have really worked on our sprint so that we're prepared any time."
Francis Cuddy (Amherst, N.H.), Bronze Medal, Men's Double Sculls "The first 1000 was very difficult to row effectively with a tail wind. It was tough to deal with for all the crews. We just tried to handle it the best we could, and once it flattened out we went for it. Argentina put up a really good fight - it was tight."
Deaglan McEachern (Portsmouth, N.H.), Bronze Medal, Men's Double Sculls "The last 500 or so, you sort of just close your eyes and go. We didn't know the result until we got to the end. We're happy with the race - it was a full effort.
"Before I came down here, I really didn't really know what to expect. It's just been really tough competition, so the medal is just that much more important to us because of how hard it was."
Gabe Winkler (St. Johnsbury, Vt.), Silver Medal, Men's Four "The last 100 meters [Argentina] really pushed ahead of us and they got the better of us. We can close really well, we just closed well on the first 200 of the last 500."
Sebastian Bea (San Francisco, Calif.), Silver Medal, Men's Four "I think we're disappointed. I think we all had hopes for better, and the crew is definitely capable of winning. But, it's a big international race and sometimes the balls don't bounce your way. It's been a very good experience for all of use. We're all very grateful to be here. We all definitely wanted to win and ended up losing by a very little bit."
