Gene Kininmonth has accepted the position of head coach of the University of Southern California¹s men¹s rowing program. For the last three seasons Kininmonth has been the head men¹s coach at George Washington University. In his new position Kininmonth will be returning to an area he knows well having previously coached at UCLA and UC Santa Barbara.
Men's rowing at USC dates back to 1948 and Trojan crews were on the water for nearly 50 years before the program was discontinued in 1996. Restarted by students in 1999, the resurrected USC crew will enter its fourth season under the Kininmonth's direction.
Gene Kininmonth, an Australian native, rowed in the Monash University eight that won the Australian Collegiate Championship in 1989. That same year he was a member of the Australian National Team. He assumes his new position at USC in July.
