Day two of trials for selection of the U.S. Under 23 Team is complete, with only one day remaining of finals in each of the 15 events.
Crews raced Tuesday morning in seven flights of repechages, consisting of the women's single sculls, men's single sculls, lightweight men's pair, lightweight men's single sculls and semifinals of the lightweight women's single sculls.
In the women's lightweight single, crews raced in heats on Monday morning and repechages on Monday evening to advance to semifinals on Tuesday morning.
GMS Rowing Center's Marissa Catelano finished with the fastest time on Monday and again with the fastest in Tuesday's semifinals with a time of 8:16.48, which was more than three seconds ahead of teammate Anna Kobayashi.
To start the morning, Tampa Training Center's Taylor DeMesa and GMS Rowing's Zoe Fleischman won each of their respective heats, advancing to the women's single finals on Wednesday.
In the men's single, Lawrence Lopez of Craftsbury Sculling Center and Patrick DelBarba of Vesper Boat Club advanced to finals. In the lightweight men's pair, Community Rowing, Inc., clocked the fastest time in 7:10.34, followed by Minnesota Boat Club, which will both advance to Wednesday's finals.
In the final repechage on Tuesday, Long Beach Junior Crew's Nicholas Trojan took first with a time of 6:57.67, followed by second place finisher, Elan Schoonmaker of Syracuse Chargers Rowing Club. Both advanced to finals in the lightweight men's single.
Finals begin Wednesday, June 26 at 7:20 a.m., with the senior men's quadruple sculls, followed by the under 23 trials races at 7:30 a.m., and continuing until 9:40 a.m.
Winner of the senior men's quadruple sculls event will be named to the U.S. team that will compete at the World Rowing Championships August 25-September 1 in Chungju, South Korea.
The 15 crews who win their events Wednesday will be named to the United States Under 23 National Team, which will compete at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships on July 24-28 in Linz, Austria.
