Canada's Paralympic mixed four finished third in its heat today, and will need to row in the repechage to move forward at the Samsung World Cup in Munich, Germany.
Over 1000 metres, Germany(1) won in 3:32.55, Ukraine was second (3:35.72), and Canada third in 3:44.21 - with Brazil 3:46.81 in fourth. Germany had the fastest qualifying time and they progress directly to the final on Saturday. Reigning World Champions, Great Britain, took the first heat in 3:34.42 to also move directly to the final.
"We now have the repechage to make some adjustments and better prepare for the final," said lead Para-rowing coach Jeff Dunbrack.
This is the first international competition for this crew this year; last year Canada was second at the World Championships.
This crew is (coxswain) Kristen Kit of St. Catharines, Ont., Victoria Nolan of Toronto, David Blair of Ottawa, Meghan Montgomery of Winnipeg, MB, and Tony Theriault of Nanaimo, B.C.
As the World Cup continues (through to June 17), Canada's women's eight and pair will also compete.
