Centerville, Mass - The Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) have announced the recipients of their End of the Year Awards. Six awards were voted on by coaches after the National Championships in Sacramento, California.
The undefeated University of Washington Varsity Eight was selected Heavyweight Crew of the Year after winning their third-straight National Championship. Huskies Head Coach Mike Callahan received The Heavyweight Coach of the Year Award, Presented by Pepsi.
The Harvard Men Lightweight Eight garnered honors as Men's Lightweight Crew of the Year after completing an undefeated season and winning both the EARC Sprints and National Championship Titles. Columbia University Head Coach, Scott Alwin, received the Men's Lightweight Coach of the Year Award, capping a great IRA for the Lions with a third place finish in the Championship finale.
Stanford University's Women's Lightweight Varsity Eight earned recognition as Women's Lightweight Crew of the Year after winning their fourth-straight IRA National Championship. Cardinal Head Coach, Al Acosta, was named Women's Lightweight Coach of the Year as the Cardinal saw a clean sweep of awards in the Women's Lightweight categories.
