TRENTON, N.J.-Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes will join members of the Princeton National Rowing Association, Olympic rowing athletes and coaches, and Finn M.W. Caspersen Thursday, May 10 at 11 a.m. to celebrate the Caspersen Rowing Center being named an Olympic Training Site.
Hughes, Caspersen, the chairman emeritus of the Princeton National Rowing Association, PNRA Executive Director Kay Worthington, and others will deliver brief remarks at the Caspersen Rowing Center on Lake Mercer in Mercer County Park in West Windsor, followed by a photo opportunity. A significant announcement regarding an upcoming event will also be made.
The Caspersen Rowing Center was constructed beginning in 1998 in an effort to provide a better rowing venue for the Lawrenceville School and the Peddie School. Under the direction of the PNRA, which hosted several successful international rowing tournaments on the lake, the Caspersen Center expanded and became home to the U.S. National Team. In addition, the site has been used for elite training, regattas, and tournaments for more than a decade.
