RCA announces the following new additions to the High Performance team in the area of athlete development.
Chuck McDiarmid, most recently the Provincial Coach for Rowing BC, is now RCA's High Performance Development Coordinator. In this new role, Chuck will support our Junior, Under 23, University and other development programs, and work with RCA's many partners to facilitate the development of a stronger athlete development pathway to our National Teams. Chuck brings to this position a wealth of experience in talent identification and development. He coached at all levels of the development pathway, and was largely responsible for the development of RADAR - a talent detection and monitoring system, which now will be rolled out Canada-wide.
Paul Hawksworth has recently been appointed to the position of U23 Coach for the men's program. Paul has recently been working in the Canadian university rowing system and has also had several years of experience working in the US college system. This position is a five-month contract working with U23 men at the Victoria Training Centre. "I'm particularly pleased with the additional support that Chuck and Paul will provide to our development program," said Peter Cookson, RCA High Performance Director. "These roles will help shape the high performance program to ensure that talent is properly nurtured, which is essential for the future success of our National and Olympic teams."
Interviews are currently underway for other High Performance coaching assignments and further announcements will be made over the next few weeks.
