Chris Liwski and Michael Blomquist will represent the United States in the men's pair at the first stop of the 2005 BearingPoint Rowing World Cup circuit beginning on Thursday in Eton, England.
Liwski (Sarasota, Fla.) and Blomquist (Greensboro, N.C.) are scheduled to face 13 other pairs including crews from Great Britain, Germany, Canada and the Czech Republic. The duo had been studying at Oxford this spring and helped the Oxford eight to a victory over Cambridge in the 2005 Boat Race.
Liwski, a graduate of Syracuse University, won a gold medal in the men's eight at the 2003 Pan American Games and was an alternate on the 2004 Olympic Team, while Blomquist, a Harvard University grad, is a two-time senior national team member.
In total, 217 crews and 475 athletes are scheduled to race in Eaton. Racing will take place May 26-28.
