Although Canada's National Team Trials don't begin until June 8, a small team is already in Munich, Germany, for next week's World Cup action (May 25 to 27).
"Our team needs hard international racing this season in addition to the World Championships in August," explains Alan Roaf, Rowing Canada Aviron High Performance Director. "The participation of these select crews at the first World Cup of the 2006 season will provide valuable feedback about our early season pace. As Munich is the site of the Olympic qualifying regatta in 2007, experience gained there this year will be an added benefit."
The team has several experienced rowers including three former World gold medallists and one current World Champion - Kevin Light, Kyle Hamilton, Ben Rutledge (2002 and 2003 men's eight) and Tracy Cameron (2005 lightweight women's quad world champion).
