Rowing Canada Aviron shares its sympathies with Dr. Gord Sleivert's family and the sport community on the news of his sudden passing.
"Gord was such a positive force in Canadian Olympic sport. His vast wealth of knowledge, his engaging style, and sense of humour will be truly missed by our coaches, athletes and staff," said Rowing Canada Aviron's High Performance Director, Peter Cookson.
Dr. Sleivert, Vice President of CSC Pacific, passed away on the evening of April 2, 2012. He had been with CSC Pacific since November 2003, helping establish and build the centre's performance service team. He worked with rowing's programs for many years and has played a key role in the sport's success.
"On behalf of Rowing Canada Aviron, I am deeply saddened at the news of Gord's passing - this will leave a void in the sport community in Victoria and across the country," said Rowing Canada Aviron Executive Director Donna Atkinson. "His contribution to high-performance rowing was significant and we will remember him fondly."
