Help support Sarasota's bid for the 2017 World Rowing Championships by promoting its quest for additional funding from the Florida State Legislature. USRowing and Benderson Development have launched a social media-based public campaign to accumulate "likes" at https://www.facebook.com/worldclassrowing.
This indication of support via social media from the rowing community will provide local organizers with the push they need to bring this prestigious event to the United States in 2017.
"Sarasota has emerged as a critical opportunity for growth of our sport in the United States, and especially in the southeast region," said Glenn Merry. "Being built as a world class venue, this location will serve not only the interests of our domestic agenda to develop more rowing waterways but will allow the United States to propose a solid and serious bid for international competition to return to America. We need to demonstrate to Florida that, as a rowing population, we recognize the value this new venue provides for all of us in the sport, from the USRowing Masters National Championships in 2013 to the U.S. National Team in 2017. Please get the word out to friends and family to support this initiative."
