Former United States Olympic coxswain and Beijing 2008 bronze medalist Marcus McElhenney is officially joining the Trump Administration as Associate Press Officer for the newly formed White House Office of American Innovation, led by Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. In his new role, McElhenney will serve to soften the public backlash of Trump's government restructuring efforts.
"This role is best suited for tenacious and feisty personalities that don't mind punching above their weight." Kushner's staff related via e-mail correspondence. "We actively sought out various sports backgrounds, of which coxswains were at the top of our list. Once Mr. McElhenney's resume came across our desk, we knew immediately he would be a great fit."
"I'm speechless. Making America great again is now my personal responsibility, and I won't let anyone get in my way," said McElhenney, who just completed his law degree from the University of San Francisco. "Trump is hands down the greatest president we will ever have in our lifetime. He's a train with no brakes, and now I'm the conductor!"
"This office will bring together the best ideas from government, the private sector, and other thought leaders to ensure that America is ready to solve today's most intractable problems," Trump said in a memorandum creating the office that includes about a dozen White House officials, and now, an Olympic rowing medalist.
