As the Alumni 8+ event continues to grow in size and competitiveness, the Directors of the Head Of The Charles, ever in the pursuit of fairness, have made the following changes to the eligibility guidelines for the Alumni 8+ events:
The Alumni 8+ events will be limited to persons (coxswain included) who attended the same academic institution (named at the time of entry application) who are not currently enrolled at the institution in question. In order to maintain eligibility crews must abide by the following restrictions:
Crews may not practice until after 2PM on Friday of Head Of The Charles weekend. In the interest of the athletes' health and safety, power strokes are strictly forbidden during practice and highly discouraged during racing. Each athlete must wear his or her original racing kit, i.e. kit in which he/she raced while enrolled at the academic institution in question. Alumni crews from any institution that has ever sent athletes on to compete at the national team level will be deemed ineligible competition in the Alumni 8+ events Any Alumni 8+ crews found to be in violation of these new restrictions will be disqualified from the 2015 HOCR and barred from Ned Devine's.
Additionally, a special medal will be awarded to the Alumni 8+ crew to clock the most collective time spent in the Reunion Village prior to their race.
