Troubled automaker GM is reportedly wooing Vesper Boat Club of Philadelphia in a last-ditch effort to convince the US government that it has a viable restructuring plan. Sources close to the negotiations kept their comments brief, saying only that "Vesper brings a lot to the table. It is a well-run organization, efficient organization, and GM is not."
When asked what products the new company would manufacture, GM executives looked totally blank. "We're not planning to manufacture anything," one of them said, speaking under conditions of mediocrity, "but we expect the merged company would collect dues very aggressively, and give fantastic parties."
