Philadelphia rowers have declared they are "not shoobs" due to a relatively somewhat occasionally high number of rowers who lifeguard on the Jersey Shore from June 10 to Labor Day each year. Additional visits to the shore during winter are cited as further evidence, according to Boathouse Row stalwart Mike Marconi.
"We get downashore at least a couple times in winter," said Marconi, who, despite a solid reputation for starting brawls with locals at Maloney's and sliding stop signs in Avalon, protested his local shore credentials. "Shoobs don't do that."
