After several years of watching crews row high in order to win IRA's, the ECAC is in receipt of a petition signed "1958 IRA Finalists" demanding that a rating cap be placed on all racing at the IRA.
"With all that high stroking and those cleavers for oars, why, it's no longer a symphony of motion," a source quoted the petition as saying.
Members of the eight or ten IRA crews that are within closed water of each other while rowing with perfect catches at 37 beats per minute disagreed. "The equipment is different, the distance shorter, and the demands higher," said one unnamed rower. "I wouldn't mind reinstituting their training tables, tho; those guys ate like kings. Then again, it looks like some of those guys never left the table; those are some formidable guts. We might not row as low, but I bet we could hold our own at dinner."
