USRowing announces changes to the men's coaching staff of the United States National Team, effective immediately. Luke McGee stepped down from his position as men's senior team coach, Bryan Volpenhein will remain on the staff as a senior team men's coach. A search for a new men's senior head coach will commence.
The new head coach will be responsible for the men's high performance squad and will lead the coaching staff that will develop, select and prepare the team for international competition.
"We would like to thank Luke for his commitment to the U.S. senior and under 23 teams and to the USRowing organization over the past four years," said USRowing High Performance Director Matt Imes. "Luke has brought tremendous enthusiasm and dedication to his time with the men, and we wish him the best going forward."
"Our commitment to maximizing the potential of the U.S. team is unwavering," said Chair of USRowing's High Performance Committee Rob Milam. "We will be engaging in discussions with strong candidates who have track records of winning on the international stage, can understand and operate within our great American system, and who can create and lead a sustainable culture of success for the athletes."
