When Washington State University faces North Carolina Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, it will have a (small) rowing connection. 6'10" WSU freshman Charlie Enquist is a reserve player and the son of 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist Paul Enquist. Paul and partner Brad Lewis (Assault On Lake Casitas) won the Mens Double Sculls, and before the US mens 8 victory in Athens, they were the last Americans to win gold at the Olympics.
(Ed.'s note: there have to be other oarsperson offspring playing hoops? Add to Comments below.)
