Friends of Rowing,
The University of California at Davis has had women's rowing for 33 years.
Today, UCD is facing budget cuts that threaten to eliminate their women's rowing program. This is almost an unheard of cut to an athletics program. UCD has a strong history, winning two national championships as a DII program and has made many positive steps forward since it went DI three years ago. This cut could set a precedent throughout athletic departments nationwide.
The future of collegiate rowing is in our hands. The Davis women's rowing program has been actively fund raising for the past couple of years, but this cut is so severe that for this program to survive we must demonstrate to the Athletic Director the solidarity of the rowing community by making generous donations. Our goal is $250,000 in the next 3 weeks.
We hope you will join us with a donation to Save the UCD Women's Rowing Program. Donations can be made via credit card at this link : http://ica.ucdavis.edu/DEVP/giving/wrowing_upay_form.php
If each person who receives this appeal gives $100, we can save the program. I ask that you forward this appeal to everyone on your contact list. WE NEED THE ROWING COMMUNITY to save this program. Your donation will make a clear statement to the administration of not only UC Davis but ALL NCAA Programs that we are willing to do whatever is necessary to save our sport!
YOUR DONATIONS ARE RISK FREE
All donations to the UC Davis Rowing Fund must be used for rowing. If the program is cut, the University will return your donations.
