The National Rowing Foundation (NRF) and the United States Rowing Association (USRowing) announced on Friday the signing of a grant agreement wherein the NRF pledged to secure more than $450,000 in private donor funding for the United States National Rowing Team as it prepares for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
The funding will cover expenses for the National Selection Regattas, Olympic Trials, World Cup travel, the pre-Olympic training camp, and on-site Olympic housing. The dollars provided by NRF donors are second only to the United States Olympic Committee as a source of funding for the national rowing team.
We deeply appreciated the generosity of NRF donors who are making it possible for our national team to participate in training camps and competitions that give us great experience and the best possible edge for Athens, said John H. Dane, USRowing Executive Director.
Our donors are pleased to assist the national team in any way we can, said NRF Executive Director Hart Perry. Our supporters have substantial experience in rowing and many are former national team members. This is a wonderful way for former national team members and others to support the current national team.
Individuals wishing to assist the NRF in meeting this financial pledge are encouraged to contact Hart Perry at [email protected] or John H. Dane at [email protected] or call the NRF at 860-535-0634 or the USRowing national office at 317-237-5656.
The National Rowing Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1996 to support United States national teams in international competition.
