Al Lawn Sr passed away on Friday, February 12; thanks to his son Al Lawn Jr for the following note about Al's passing, including service information.
All - It is with numbness and a deep sense of loss that I write to you all to tell you that my father passed away yesterday afternoon. Dad had a heart attack in early December and had been struggling to gain his footing and strength after that event. But regardless of how we hoped for improvement, it was not to be; it was his time and he was ready. My mother is ok, but naturally she is struggling at the moment to process, how after 58 years, she will live without him, but I know (or hope) that in time she will figure it out.
Each of you know first-hand that my father's life was a generous one, where he offered without limitation his skill/capabilities to help and to inspire others to excel or be better in life, faith, science, rowing, football, swimming or whatever endeavor the person was attempting. He, like Chuck, and many of his generation made real differences in our country that cannot be measured. I am extremely proud to be his son and blessed to have witnessed his impact on so many…..
Please keep Dad and my mother in your thoughts.
