Crotty, who serves as the executive director of Princeton International Regatta Association and the varsity men's head coach at Mercer Junior Rowing Club, will oversee the selection process with assistant coach Colin Campbell at the Caspersen Olympic Training site at Mercer Lake in New Jersey. Campbell was part of the junior men's coaching staff in 2002 and 2003 and presently serves as the head coach and director of the Peddie School Crew. The 2005 Junior World Championships will be held August 3-6 in Brandenburg, Germany.
"I am delighted to be named head coach of the junior men's national team," Crotty said. "As a product of the junior and senior national team system, I look forward to presenting our nation's finest junior rowers with the same opportunities and challenges that I faced during my rowing career. The environment of the Olympic training site and the chance to train alongside Olympic medalists will inspire juniors throughout the country to develop into senior and Olympic team candidates. Colin and I intend to develop young rowers, expose them to greatness, and win medals in Brandenburg."
