Three Rivers Rowing Association has been named the 2010 USRowing Club of the Year, the organization announced on Wednesday.
More than 1,100 USRowing member organizations across the country were eligible for the award, which is based on a points system focusing on the following criteria: performance, community outreach, service to rowing, USRowing participation, technology and communications, and safety. Having previously won the inaugural award in 2002, Three Rivers became the second two-time winner since its inception.
"It is wonderful to see USRowing recognize all the work that the Three Rivers Rowing Association community, volunteers and staff have accomplished," said TRRA Executive Director Rick Brown. "Since being the award's inaugural winner in 2002, TRRA has dedicated itself to enhancing its contributions to the sport of rowing, within its membership and the community as a whole. We were founded on the belief that our sport should be open to everyone, and we continue to serve athletes with disabilities and inner-city youth under the same roof as our nationally competitive youth and adult programs. We have enjoyed hosting and operating the USRowing Men's Junior National Development Team out of our two boathouses and believe it, along with hosting 24 years of the Head of the Ohio Regatta, has continued to expose our organization to the rest of the country. We are thrilled with the growth our organization continues to generate and are excited to be an established part of the USRowing system."
Three Rivers Rowing Association was founded in 1984 as a nonprofit organization committed to developing and delivering safe, sustainable programs and events that promote the benefits of rowing and paddling to a diverse and growing membership. The organization offers an array of rowing programs that fit the needs of all rowing teams and individuals. The community-oriented rowing association offers programs for the visually impaired and persons with disabilities, urban youth, high school and college students, corporate rowing teams and adult rowers.
