PRINCETON, N.J. -- With the announcement on January 18, 2017 of the resignation of four USRowing Board of Directors members, there are currently five open Board seats.* The Board is committed to ensuring that USRowing continues to build on its success and that the Board truly represents the diversity of our members and organizations.
In the interest of transparency and to ensure all the constituencies represented by the open Board seats have the opportunity to participate, we are providing the following information regarding the process by which the open seats will be filled. The goal is to have a complete Board in place for the next USRowing Board of Directors meeting on March 18th and 19th in Princeton, NJ.
It is important that the Board has the range of skills needed to support the work of USRowing. Specific experience desired includes development (fundraising, sponsorships, and grants), event management, new rowing markets (fitness, open-water, touring, indoor rowing), and business leadership.
Northeast Representative: The Northeast Representative election is still in progress and will close at 11:59 p.m. ET on February 1, 2017. Gary Caldwell resigned from the board on January 15, 2017, but has remained on the ballot. The results of this election will be released by close of business on February 2.
The four remaining vacancies listed below, per the Bylaws, will be filled by appointment of the Board of Directors. The Board's Nominating Committee, chaired by Kris Thorsness, will be responsible for interviewing and assessing all of the candidates, prior to final selection by the Board.
Northwest Representative: The Northwest Representative election, while still in progress, has Sohier Hall running uncontested. As Mr. Hall resigned his position, this position will be filled, per the Bylaws, by appointment of the Board. The position is for three years, ending March 2020.

Southeast Representative: In Fall 2016, Dan Newman, Southeast Representative, resigned his Board position. His position will be filled, per the Bylaws, by appointment of the Board. The position is for the remaining year of the current term, ending March 2018.
