West Windsor, NJ - The Princeton National Rowing Association (PNRA) is pleased to announce that it will again host the combined Northeast/Mid-Atlantic (NEMA) Junior District Rowing Championships on May 7-8, 2010. This regatta will be a USRowing Youth National Championships qualifying event for both regions. Racing will be on PNRA's 2000 meter FISA certified course. The majority of events will be scheduled for Saturday, May 8 with Friday, May 7 reserved for heats if necessary.
USRowing is working to establish standalone junior championship regattas in each of the districts. Currently the Central, Midwest, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest districts have established regional championships. While there were discussions of dividing the NEMA regatta into separate Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regattas in 2010, this division has been delayed for one year to allow for the infrastructure to be put into place to support two successful regattas.
"We are honored to be given the opportunity to again host the NEMA Regatta," said Kristopher Grudt, Executive Director of the Princeton National Rowing Association. "This is a great opportunity for PNRA and Mercer County to show off one of the finest rowing venues in the Untied States. The event promises to draw some of the top Junior rowing teams in the country."
PNRA last hosted the NEMA regatta in 2008. PNRA will also host the Mercer Lake Sprints Regatta on April 16-17, 2010. For more information please go to www.rowpnra.org.
