Tempests and Timing Breakdowns
November 13, 2006

One of rowing's weirdest falls ever continued apace this weekend, with another major regatta cancelled when the Head of the Lake succumbed to the radical weather recently afflicting the PNW, with reports of two-to-five foot swells in the starting area. That wasn't all: a timing error at the Rivanna Romp required a full re-row of the women's varsity 8 - owwww...

This year's crop of frosh are nearly at full steam, and from all the newbie coxswain calls we heard from crews racing under bridges, one stands out: "Your parents are watching, now start pulling!" Hey, whatever gets you to the line.

Speaking of frosh racing, the tradition of quotes, slogans, and odd logos on frosh racing shirts was at strength this weekend; send your frosh shirt slogan to [email protected] and we'll publish them on the site later this week.
