December 14, 2016

..because CRASH-Bs is just 60 days away!

Here's row2k's list of the 15 erg songs for your winter 2016-2017 erg playlist.

A couple notes on how songs were selected as this is once again, a highly subjective list:

  • All songs submitted by row2k readers
  • Each song is from the last year and a half, or so. Songs from pre-2015 were excluded
  • Only one song per artist as there are many artists with multiple songs
  • We tried to bring a variety of genres of music for a variety of types of erg pieces
  • Some contain some explicit lyrics
  • Once again, no Miley Cyrus
  • Songs listed alphabetically by artist

  • Spotify playlist here plus check out the embedded player at right.

    The Chainsmokers - Closer
"From the moment I first heard this song at Ned Devine’s 769th Annual Post-HOCR Bash, I knew it was destined to become the erg jam of the winter. I mean, it’s already about erging, right?

“Baby, pull me closer drop that split a little lower / Keep on driving to the finish, keeping relaxed in your shoulders / Pull the chain right of the flywheel of the ergo that you stole / From your roommate back in boulder we ain’t ever getting slower”
    -Luke

Cold War Kids - All This Could Be Yours
"The consistent upbeat rhythm throughout is great while working through an erg piece or workout. And if that opening hook doesn't grab you to get going, well, I'm sorry."
    -Ednah

    Glass Animals - Life Itself
"It has an upbeat melody, interesting beats, and these erg appropriate lyrics:

Come back down to my knees / Gotta get back, gotta get free / Come back down to my knees / Be like them, lean back and breathe"
    -Heather

    Gryffin -Whole Heart
    -Katie

    Kid Cudi - Surfin;
    -George

    MAX - 10 Victoria's Secret Models
    "Very upbeat!"
    -Rhea

    NF - Motivated
    -thekkbmx

The Record Company - Off The Ground
"This song has an amazing rhythm that washes over you while pain starts to settle in. The driving bass and lyrics such as 'Well my head is heavy and my heart is empty, but my spirit is strong and my legs are ready' keep you fighting until the very last meter."
    -Rudi

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dark Necessities
    -Christina
