What is The Princeton Hot Seat?

The Princeton Hot Seat is a new recurring photo blog to highlight the transient nature of the rowing community in the Princeton, New Jersey area.  It's open to anyone directly involved with the sport of rowing that comes to Princeton on rowing "business".  Could be rowers, coxswains, coaches, boatmen, officials, etc.

How does the Hot Seat Work?

Each subject gets four questions to answer, the first of which is simply, why are you here (in Princeton)?  Then the subject randomly draws the remaining three from a pool of pre-determined questions, of which half are rowing related, half are not...and can be pretty random.  They get one pass.

On the Hot Seat today is 2014 USA W1x sculler and 2012 Olympian Gevvie Stone.

Princeton Hot Seat - Why are you in Princeton?

Gevvie Stone - I am here to race the women's single at NSR2.

PHS - If you could only eat one type of cuisine for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

GS - Does dairy count as a cuisine?  I would eat cold cereal and ice cream all the time if that counts!

PHS - If you could be the best at another sport, what sport would you pick and why?

GS - Tennis.  I think it has the same mental game, as well as the same endurance to power balance as rowing.  Plus, they actually get paid to do it!

PHS - What race have been the most nervous for?

GS - That's a good question, I would probably have to say Sprints my freshmen year.  We were undefeated going in to the regatta and we had a fast crew.  Going in as the favorite is always tough and we had just barely beaten Brown during the season.  We had such good camaraderie and chemistry that I just didn't want to let anyone down.  I was excited for that race but VERY nervous beforehand.  I think I ate a "few" gummi bears before the final!
