COACHES |
|
CRRC offers the finest camp coaching staff in the nation.
Before starting his coaching career at Harvard in 1960, Harry Parker won a gold medal in the single at the 1959 Pan Am Games and represented the US in the same event at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. Harry's Harvard varsity 8s have represented the US in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, won nine national championships, twenty-one Eastern Sprints championships and seven Henley championships. During his tenure at Harvard, Harry has coached sixteen US national or Olympic teams.
Harvard varsity lightweight coach and several-time US national and Olympic team coach Charley Butt, whose college crews have won seven national championships since Charley's arrival at Harvard in 1985, will assist with CRRC this summer. Harvard freshman coaches Bill Manning and Linda Muri also plan to participate.
In addition we look forward to the return to Newell Boathouse of CRRC veteran coaches Dave Reischmann (head coach at Syracuse University), Pete Cathey (head coach at the University of New Hampshire), Adam Holland (a former Harvard freshman coach and member of seven US national teams, including the 1996 Olympic team), and Fred Borchelt (another former Harvard freshman coach and four-time medalist on five US national teams, including the 1980 and 1984 Olympic teams).

COMING TO CAMBRIDGE...TRAVEL HELP!
|
| IF WE ARE PICKING YOU UP AT LOGAN AIRPORT ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON- Please do your best to arrive on a flight which lands in Boston between 1pm and 4pm. We will NOT meet you at your arrival gate inside the terminal; instead we will pick you up at the curb just outside the baggage claim area for your airline on the lower level of the airport. Please claim your baggage and wait outside on the covered sidewalk. Watch for a large crimson Ford van; the van driver will be looking for YOU. Please be patient - airport traffic and parking can be unpredictable. Just before camp, we will send to you a telephone number for the van driver.
IF YOU ARE A BOARDER ARRIVING BY CAR ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON- Please arrive at the Episcopal Divinity School, 99 Brattle Street, Cambridge, between 1pm and 4pm. Refer to www.eds.edu for maps and directions. Try to park in one of the two lots nearest Lawrence Hall (either the lot accessible from Brattle Street, or the lot off St. John's Road) -- we will be waiting for you in the breezeway between Lawrence Hall and Reed Hall.
IF YOU ARE A DAY CAMPER ARRIVING ON WEEKDAY MORNINGS- You may park at Newell Boathouse parking lot for Monday morning registration (first come, first served). Refer to the campus map at www.map.harvard.edu (click "Harvard University", "Athletics Area"). However, after Monday registration, we may direct you to another nearby lot for the remainder of camp week.
IF YOU ARE ARRIVING ON FRIDAY MORNING FOR THE EXHIBITION ROW- It is EXTREMELY unlikely that parking will be available at Newell Boathouse on that morning, because of the large number of parents and spectators expected. However, there is plenty of parking available in Harvard Square, either on the street or in garages. Refer to www.harvardsquare.com/parking.php for garages within a few minutes' walk.
